Description:

This program is for students enrolled in pharmacy technician colleges in Ontario. It contains two courses: The Immunizations and Injections Certificate Program and the Mastering Injections in Pediatrics course.

The Immunization and Injections Certificate Program for Pharmacy Technicians is an Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) approved course for pharmacy technician injection training that fulfills the training program portion of the requirements for registered pharmacy technicians to administer Covid-19 and influenza injections (in defined conditions) in Ontario.

The Mastering Injections in Pediatric course equips pharmacy professionals with the knowledge and confidence they need to administer vaccines to young children safely and effectively.

It covers best practices for administration techniques, dosing, pain management and comfort strategies. In addition, you will learn useful information on the management of adverse reactions, documentation guidelines, tips on effective communication with family/caregivers, and the healthcare team.

Course at a glance:

  • Completion requirement: Complete the program’s online component. Attend the in-person live session and successfully demonstrate the skills required to administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections. Achieve 70% or more on the final multiple-choice exam (maximum two attempts) and complete the reflective exercise and evaluations before course expiry date.
