Description
Description:
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long-term condition that can lead to end-stage renal failure. The assessment and management of CKD in patients can be difficult due to many factors such as comorbid conditions, numerous medications, and altered pharmacokinetics.
This online course will help pharmacists understand the classification system for kidney dysfunction, and implications for drug dosing. Learn from subject-matter experts as they discuss medications to avoid for patients with CKD and a summary of common drugs that require dose adjustments.
This program is part of the Knowledge into Practice suite of educational programs. Knowledge into Practice programs are designed to facilitate the application of the knowledge acquired from continuing education programs into your clinical practice. In this course, we discuss access to patient lab values through the use of provincial clinical viewer. Patient cases are used to demonstrate how this information can be incorporated in the provision and documentation of enhanced pharmacy services for patients.
