Pharmacy

I started a job almost 40 years ago in community pharmacy and then realized it’s a career in healthcare. I started as an assistant, then 9 years ago I became a technician. I saved the best for the last as I love being a technician.

What I love most about pharmacy is being able to make a difference in someone’s life by making it better. I also love change, and working in pharmacy, it is constantly evolving, expanding, and being on the cutting edge of innovation. Technicians are about to start injection of the COVID-19 vaccine.

I do not have that one good story that really stands out to me, or at least I don’t remember it, but I know that I have made a difference in our patients lives. I hear time and time again from patients, or a family member, thanking us for taking such good care of their loved ones.

My role in pharmacy has many different aspects, technical checking, problem solving, training, researching current guidelines and putting them into place e.g., compounding, and being an encourager for our team. I believe my most important role is doing the technical things in pharmacy so that the pharmacist can focus on the therapeutics of patient care.
