Call for Applications – OPA Student Chapter Executive Teams

Do you have what it takes? Drive? Passion? Action? If so, we’re looking for you! OPA is seeking pharmacy student leaders to complete the Executive Teams of the OPA Student Chapters at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto and the School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo.

OPA Student Advisory Council
The Student Advisory Council is comprised of the Chairs and Vice-Chairs from the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto and the School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo, and a staff liaison from OPA. The Council meets up to four times per year with the following mandate:

  • Represent the voice of the pharmacy student body and provide OPA with recommendations for consideration on student-led initiatives and to discuss OPA’s involvement/support
  • Update their respective schools on OPA’s advocacy initiatives

The term of the Council members is one year (September – September). For more information, please review the OPA Student Advisory Council Terms of Reference.

OPA Student Chapters
There is an OPA Student Chapter at each pharmacy school. The Executive Team of the local chapters is comprised of a Chair and Vice-Chair of the Student Chapters and up to four class representatives – one class representative from each pharmacy school year (1st – 4th years), an OPA staff liaison, and a faculty advisor. All OPA pharmacy student members are automatically members of the local chapters. The Executive Team of each chapter meets up to four times throughout the year with a mandate to:

  • Generate ideas for student-led advocacy initiatives and recommendations for OPA to be presented to the OPA Student Advisory Council
  • Execute the student-led initiatives approved by OPA and the OPA Student Advisory Council at the local school level

The OPA Student Chapters must be affiliated with a faculty advisor. Co-ordination of this appointment is the responsibility of the Chair and Vice-Chair of each chapter. For more information, please review the OPA Student Chapters Terms of Reference.

Vice-Chair (any OPA pharmacy student member is eligible)
2nd year class representative (Class of 2023)

To ensure continuity the Vice-Chair, following their one-year term, will move into the position of Chair to serve for an additional term. The Terms of Reference will be updated once this change has been formally approved.)
