Ontario Pharmacists Association members have opportunities to get involved in advocacy through the Association or through their own local efforts.
MPP outreach campaign
On September 18, 2017, the OPA officially launched our Pharmacists Care advocacy campaign. Through targeted digital advertising, this campaign will raise awareness around a simple fact all of us know to be true: Ontario’s pharmacists are ready, willing, and able to do more for their patients and, by doing so, improve health outcomes. This includes allowing pharmacists to prescribe medication for common ailments, administer life-saving vaccines, address the opioids public health crisis, and responsibly dispense medical marijuana to Ontario’s patients. As part of the campaign, we’re encouraging all members and your friends, family, and neighbours to visit the website to write a letter to their local MPP and share your patient stories with us.
Tell us your story
Our advocacy efforts are stronger when we can point to concrete examples the impact that Ontario’s pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have on the lives of patients. Email OPA at [email protected] to tell OPA about how you’ve made a difference in the health and well-being of a patient.
You can also volunteer to be an OPA spokesperson by emailing [email protected].
Patient tools
Winning over patients and having them join the chorus of voices supporting the role of pharmacists in the community is something that is best accomplished not by a faceless association but by an individual – someone the patient knows and trusts.
We have developed tools and information that can help you talk to your patients about key issues in pharmacy.
